The form of the Brazilian centre-back has caught the eye of football fans around the world as Atlético Madrid, who are top of the table with four games to play, challenge for the La Liga title.

João Miranda is being touted as a perfect player for his country’s 23-man World Cup squad.

Marca have reported that the media actually asked Luiz Felipe Scolari about the possibility of calling up Miranda and the Brazil boss left the door firmly open for the 29-year-old.

The Atleti centre-back last played for Brazil back on 6th February 2013 in a friendly against England at Wembley.

Scolari did not call him up for last year’s Confederations Cup but his first-rate performances for Atleti see him well placed for an international call-up for this summer’s World Cup.
