The new Brazilian league season gets underway this weekend in earnest, with a flood of fixtures coming before a sustained break during the World Cup, and one team in particular will be striving to put on a show on the first round of fixtures.
Internacional’s recently revamped Beira-Rio stadium in Porto Alegre, which now holds 56,000 spectators, is set to host the first match of this magnitude when they host Vitoria.
The game kicks off on Saturday at 1830 (GMT) in the venue which now boats huge TV screens- for fans to debate contentious decisions or merely watch replays of Inter goals.
A 15th-place finish in last year’s championship is hoped to be a minor setback for Inter, who have won the Copa Libertadores in the past five years.
Their team for Sunday is expected to include the attacking triumvirate of Andres D’Alessandro, Rafael Moura and Alan Patrick.
