New Botafogo signing Emerson Sheik has thanked the club’s fans for welcoming to his new team and urged the to get behind the Rio de Janeiro outfit as the new Brasileiro season kicks off this weekend coming.

The Qatar international, who has represented Brazil at youth level, finally completed his protracted move in the past week and told TV Stove that he is ready to play.

“We will work very hard, and the crowd’s support is key. I ask you that you please attand and support us this season.”

Emerson had previously been at Corinthians, where he played from 2011 to 2014. During the 35 year-old’s time at the club, he won a national league title, a Copa Libertadores and a Club World Cup, as well as last year’s Paulista state championship.
