Arsenal have won seven straight Premier League matches and since the start of 2024, all they know is winning and scoring heavily in the domestic tournament. Last time out, the Gunners thrashed Sheffield United 6-0 away from home, demonstrating tremendous collective play and attacking prowess.

The only bad news for coach Mikel Arteta in that game was Gabriel Martinelli’s injury, as the Brazilian had to leave the field with help from the medical staff. After the match, the only information provided by the coach was that the winger suffered a cut on one of his feet, without revealing the severity or recovery time.

“Bukayo was feeling sick and wasn’t feeling right. I had to take him off and bring Fabio in. With Gabi it’s just a cut. He had a tackle and a slight cut, we have to see how he is,” the Spaniard said Monday.

Arteta provides Martinelli injury update

“We got some players back last Monday, and then we had Martinelli and Bukayo with little issues but we are pretty positive that hopefully they can be part of that but we’ll have to wait and see how they are tomorrow,” Arteta said Thursday, updating Martinelli’s status in his press conference ahead of the Arsenal’s match against Brentford on Saturday.

If they win, the London side could move to the top of the Premier League table ahead of the Liverpool-Manchester City match on Sunday. Arsenal have 61 points, two less than Liverpool and one shy of Manchester City.

Martinelli’s recovery is also being closely monitored by Dorival Júnior, who included him in his first call-up as Brazil’s head coach. The Seleção will play against England at Wembley on March 23 and three days later against Spain at the Santiago Bernabéu.
