With Kylian Mbappé reportedly letting Paris Saint-Germain know he’ll leave as a free agent in the summer, many are wondering where the Frenchman will play next season. Arsenal have emerged as a potential candidate, but manager Mikel Arteta admitted it’s unlikely.

“When there is a player of that caliber, we always have to be in the conversation. But, as you said, it looks like it will go a different way,” the Spaniard said, via the club’s official website.

Mbappé could boost the Gunners, but Real Madrid seem to be in pole position

The Gunners already have a star-studded team with a powerful attack led by the Brazilians Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli. The fellow countrymen play an instrumental role for Arteta, who also counts on English gem Bukayo Saka on the right wing.

Needless to say, the addition of a world-class player such as Mbappé would only boost an already world-class roster for Arsenal. But as Arteta suggested, it seems that the 25-year-old will be playing elsewhere.

After snubbing Real Madrid to stay at PSG in 2022, all signs are pointing towards Mbappé finally joining the Spanish giants at the end of the season.
