Sao Paulo FC are seriously considering offering a contract to Alexandre Pato, the Brazilian striker recovering from a right knee injury suffered in September 2022 while playing for Orlando City in the United States.

Since February, the player has been using the facilities of Barra Funda, the training center of Sao Paulo FC, to continue his rehabilitation. According to information reported by Ge, the club’s management is closely monitoring the evolution of his physical condition to assess the possibility of a return.

One of the reasons the club are taking the time to review Pato’s situation is to better understand his ability to contribute to the team in terms of performance. Despite this, Sao Paulo FC are in no rush to make a decision, as the player is free from commitments, which means he can be registered with the club at any time without having to wait for transfer windows.

However, the player’s contract situation remains a matter of concern for the club’s management. Pato has already played for Sao Paulo FC twice, most recently in 2020, before rescinding his contract. Thus, for a new return to the club, it is possible that the player will have to adapt to less advantageous salary conditions.

Currently, Sao Paulo FC are not negotiating with the player. Both sides are waiting to see how Pato’s injury recovery progresses before making a decision. In the meantime, the player continues to train regularly with the team, which shows his involvement and his motivation for a return to the field.

If Pato manages to get back to his best level, it would be a big boost for Sao Paulo FC, who are going through a tough time right now. The club are struggling financially and have no plans to invest in new players this season. However, with Pato’s experience and skill set, he could be a prime reinforcement for the Brazilian squad.
