In a press conference prior to the clash for the Champions League quarterfinals, Eder Militão was consulted about the match and other topics.

The Brazilian centre-back stated that the second leg will be as tough as the first leg and the team should not be overconfident because of the two goals scored in the first match: “We know that Chelsea are a difficult team because they are a great team and for the saves that (Thibaut) Courtois made during the game. Despite the difference of two goals, we are going to face the match with the idea of winning it”.

Asked about his level, the Real Madrid player was full of confidence in himself and in his football moment: “Everyone can have their opinion on the subject. I think I’m on my way to that (to be the best central defender in the world). I feel that I did well since I arrived at the club, I had several central defenders ahead of me and little by little I was gaining a place”.

When asked about which aspect of his game had improved the most in recent times, the central defender did not hesitate and pointed out two in particular: “I improved a lot in concentration, I used to have moments when I lost concentration during games. Although I still have room for improvement I am doing better. I also do work at home to maintain the level. We have many games and if you don’t take care of yourself it’s complicated”.

He also had time to talk about his compatriot Vinicius Junior: “He’s one of the best today, it’s almost impossible to stop him, he doesn’t stop running.” Asked about the possibility that Ancelotti will become coach of the Brazilian National Team, he said that beyond a few jokes they did not talk about it: “We joked about it but he has a contract here. He helped me a lot, he is an excellent coach, we talk every day and every day I learn something new”.

The central defender who joined the white team in mid-2019 for 50 million euros has gradually earned his place. With increasingly solid performances, today he is a fixed number in Ancelotti’s eleven.
