Neymar Junior shocked the world in the summer of 2023 by leaving Paris Saint-Germain for Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal. The Brazilian immediately put the club on world football’s map, but he couldn’t make such an impact on the field due to a knee injury sustained in October.

Since his chapter is just getting started and his contract won’t expire until 2025, it may be too soon to talk about another move in his career. But at Santos, they’re already dreaming with his return.

Santos looking forward to potential reunion with Neymar in 2025

The Peixe are starting to look forward to Ney’s return, especially after his recent visit to Vila Belmiro where he had the opportunity to speak with the club president, Marcelo Teixeira, who addressed this possibility.

“The conversation was quick, but it’s always the quickest ones that have a good effect. No, no, it’s too early to sign a pre-contract, he still has to recover better (from his injury). To play here, he has to recover well. He will continue with the experience there (in Saudi Arabia) and then he will come,” Teixeira said.

These comments, which are taken as a formal declaration of interest in signing Neymar once his contract ends in 2025, have been received with a lot of optimism by fans who dream of seeing him back on the Vila Belmiro field.

Regarding Neymar’s presence at the stadium to watch the match against Corinthians, Teixeira said: “He himself said he wanted to come to the match, we just gave him the best conditions.”

As if that weren’t enough, the statements not only came from the president but also from Santos coach, Fábio Carille, who also had something to say about the 32-year-old. “It would be great to have Neymar. We know it’s difficult, he’s a differential player. It’s a distant dream, but let’s dream,” he said.

Neymar left Santos in 2013, when he signed for FC Barcelona on a reported €88m deal. After a long and successful stint in Europe, he took his talent to the Middle East, where he waits, patiently, to eventually have the free transfer card in hand to return to his beloved team.

Will Neymar’s sensational return to Santos ever happen? Only time will tell.
