After two editions where the Brazilian youth team was not present in the Under 20 World Cup, it was their turn to return as the present champion of South America. The expectations were good despite the difficult group (Italy, Nigeria and the Dominican Republic) and the absence of some figures such as Endrick and Vitor Roque.

The debut was against the always difficult Italy and the beginning was not in the best way. The Italians found the goal quickly through a shot by Matteo Prati, the second would come after an error by goalkeeper Mycael at the exit of a corner when the Chelsea footballer Cesare Casadei scored. Cesare Casadei, this time from a penalty, made it 3-0 with which the first half ended.

In the second half, Italy continued to pull the strings and a Brazil was seen with more desire to look for the goal but something disconnected in its lines. Marcos Leonardo’s goal at 71 activated the team that went ahead and at 81, again, Marcos Leonardo with a great header made it 3 to 2. Although Brazil tried in the final minutes, they did not could find the tie.

Brazil is focused on turning the page and thinking about the next rival that will be on Wednesday (24th) against the Dominican Republic. In the other match of the group, Nigeria beat the Central Americans who had a great performance from their goalkeeper Xavier Valdez.
