Arthur Elias predicts a balanced and consistent team against Canada

The Women’s Main Team held their last training session this Monday (30) for the clash against Canada this Tuesday, at the Wanderers Grounds Stadium, at 7:30 pm (Brasília time).

In the first match, the Brazilians won 1-0 in Montreal. At the press conference this Monday, coach Arthur Elias announced that he will change the team for the second clash against the Canadians, but preferred not to announce the lineup.

“We’re going to train this afternoon (Tuesday), closer to game time, then after I talk to them and we discuss some situations with the players and train on the field, then I’ll actually define the 11 starters. But, Brazil will certainly have changes in the starting lineup and also in some substitutions that we already have planned. It is a process of team evolution and opportunities for us to build this work”

At the press conference this Monday, coach Arthur Elias once again commented on his playing style, which is a striking characteristic of the coach.

“Our priority is to make the Brazilian team’s game model very clear. And I think we made the most of this in the short space of time I had with the athletes. But of course, it’s a process still under development. The priority in preparation is for us to find a number increasingly closer to the 18 players who will be registered for the Olympic Games”, he said.

“The priority is to bring balance and consistency, so that Brazil can face any opponent at world level. And that it is an encouraged, confident team that takes advantage of the quality of our players. In terms of time, it is short, but as you said , in the national team I can select the players who are in the best moments, the main players in the country. And this is the same for all teams. So I think we work, just like in the club, in a situation of equality. And that’s worth it , obviously, the competence of the work and assimilation of the players.”

Many things can be changed in a team. Not only the athletes, but the tactical scheme is also an important part during the game. Arthur Elias reinforces that organization and team dynamics are important pillars for achieving effective and satisfactory results. For him, Brazil needs to be balanced and consistent in all phases of the game.

“Our style of play is linked not to the organization, but to the dynamics that we need to have. The offensive dynamics, so that we can create scoring opportunities. The athletes being confident and calm when these opportunities arise, for us be able to convert it into goals. And improve the decision-making that we will have with our possession. This is the result of a sequence of work, of what we call the player’s rapport, along with the assimilation of the model”, he stated.
