Manchester United midfielder Fred says that fans of the club are right to be demanding, with the Red Devils not having won a league title in seven years.

The club have not won the title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement and have undergone a period of relative decline, which has brought with it sharp criticism of the club.

Fred says that is par the course at a club like United, where fans used to success are correct to demand more than they are currently seeing.

“It’s a giant club. When things don’t work out, it’s logical that the fans will talk”, Fred told UOL. “And it’s up to us to deal with the pressure off the pitch.

“The crowd got used to seeing many titles due to the size that United have and they want those moments again. They are right and they must always want it.”

In recent weeks, CEO Ed Woodward has seen his home attacked by fans with flares and the Brazilian says that he and his teammates try to stay out of club politics.

“We end up getting even more armoured, really. And it’s hard to talk about the owners of our team. We try to stay out of it. We learn little and try to do our work on the pitch.”
