Former Brazil midfielder Gilberto Silva says that current Seleção boss Tite should stay in the job regardless of whether Brazil wins the Copa América in June.

Tite is reportedly under pressure to win the tournament after last year’s quarter-final exit from the World Cup.

Gilberto, who captained Brazil to their last Copa América triumph in 2007, says Tite’s future should not be tied to the tournament.

Speaking to Yellow and Green https://ygfoot.com/ygf-talks-gilberto-silva-on-copa-america- success-brazil-captaincy-arsenal-glory-days-and-the-bom-senso-movement-that-shook- brazilian-football/ Gilberto said, “My opinion is that the Copa América should be used by Brazil as a continuation of his work.

“Winning will only be a consequence, there are other teams with quality. If you interrupt his work due to not winning the trophy, you lose a little.

“We must hope that, regardless of the outcome, the work will be maintained. I think Tite is doing a good job.

“Obviously the demands have already started in terms of a title, as has always happened with the national team. But I hope he can have peace of mind to get on with his job.”
