FC Porto right-back Eder Militão has been called into Tite’s Brazil squad for friendlies against the USA and El Salvador this month.

The Porto man is called as Corinthians right-back Fágner has pulled out due to injury. Brazil play the US in New Jersey on Friday evening.

They will then fly to Maryland to play El Salvador on Tuesday, 11 th September. This is Eder Militão’s first call up for his country.

The ex-São Paulo man can also operate at centre-half or as a defensive midfielder. He is among the candidates to take over from 34-year old right-back Dani Alves in the long term.

Fágner’s withdrawal means that Liverpool man Fabinho is likely to start at right-back. Fágner is the third player to withdraw from the squad for these September friendlies.

Renato Augusto was cut for ‘personal reasons’, while Fluminense striker Pedro is injured and has been replaced by Everton forward Richarlison.
