According to Brazil national team coordinator Gilmar, a final decision on Neymar’s participation on both competitions is not yet taken, and Brazil FA are still working to find the best solution for all parties.
Although Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu stated on Saturday that it’s almost impossible for Barcelona to release Neymar for the Copa América Centenário in June and the Olympics in August, Gilmar Rinaldi, still believes the poster boy of Brazilian football will be present in both competitions. Gilmar was quoted in Globo Esporte: “We have no hurry to solve it. I have nothing to comment. What I can say is we did all the necessary things, we spoke to who we should talk, and we want to find the best solution for everyone. We work with all the possibilities, but it is not now that this will be resolved. It will be at the right time.”
After a first meeting between Dunga and the board of Barça in the Catalan club’s training centre, another meeting will take place soon. The intention of Barcelona is to release Neymar only for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
