20-year-old Grêmio midfielder Walace suffered an injury to the medial collateral ligament of his right knee and will be out of action for 30 days.
Walace will therefore miss the club"s opening game of the 2016 Copa Libertadores against Mexican side Toluca on the 17th of this month. He suffered the injury 28 minutes into the second half during a 1-0 victory over Coritiba at Grêmio Arena on Sunday. Walace left the pitch and even returned to the field, but couldn"t resist the pain, and was replaced by Moisés seven minutes later. He has started the treatment with physiotherapy sessions.
If Walace doesn"t recover earlier than what"s foreseen by the medical department, he should stay out of Roger Machado"s team for at least nine games. He"s expected to miss games against LDU [March 2nd] and San Lorenzo [March 9] in the Libertadores, and also the Gre-Nal derby [March 6] in the Gauchão.
