Liverpool’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva is understood to be looking to move elsewhere after dropping down the pecking order in the club’s midfield.

The 28 year old played no part in Liverpool’s 1-0 win at Stoke on Sunday and it is now believed he is the club’s fifth choice central midfielder. Jordan Henderson and James Milner are the current preferred pairing with Joe Allen and Emre Can useful substitutes.

Lucas Leiva has long been linked with an exit from Liverpool yet always seems to battle back to gain a place in the team. This time such a scenario seems unlikely as his relationship with manager Brendan Rodgers has strained.

In January, Italian club Internazionale showed an interest in Lucas and such an offer now will surely tempt Liverpool. There are still 20 days before the transfer window closes so there is plenty of time for the holding midfielder to get his move.
