Veteran forward Vágner Love has been released by Chinese Super League side Shāndōng Lǔnéng Tàishān.

The 30 year-old, who was signed from CSKA Moscow for a reported fee of €6.15 million in July 2013, has been forced out due to the arrival of Diego Tardelli from Atlético Mineiro.

Shandong had to get rid of a foreign player to meet the squad requirements of the competition and Head Coach Cuca has chosen to retain midfielders Júnior Urso and Walter Montillo, as well as forward Aloísio.

Despite his disappointing exit, Love’s time with Shandong was largely successful. The former Flamengo hit-man netted 28 goals in 43 appearances for the club and is now expected to join either Lokomotiv Moscow or a team in the Liga MX.
