Ronaldo has admitted he is open to making a return to playing with North American Soccer League side Fort Lauderdale Strikers.

The 38 year-old forward retired in February 2011, but despite having problems with injuries towards throughout his career, he is seemingly keen on trying to come back.

“I love to play,” he said at a press conference, as reported by website The Telegraph.

“That was my big love. But when I retired, it was because of my body. I had so much pain and so many injuries. It isn’t easy to get fit. I will try. I will train a lot.”

Ronaldo is now a part owner of Fort Lauderdale Strikers and conceivable has time to get fit ahead of the 2015 NASL Spring Championship, which begins in April.

The two time Ballon d’Or winner (1997 and 2002) is also eager to try and bring more Brazilian players – there is just Jenison Brito and Rafael Alves in the current squad – to the club, though admits there are financial constraints.

“We want to have all the best players,” he insisted. “But we don’t have the money yet. We have a budget.”

Ronaldo is considered one of the best attackers of all time. During his career, which ended at Corinthians, he won major honours in Brazil, Netherlands, Spain and Italy, as well as countless individual accolades.

With Brazil, he also won the FIFA World Cup twice (1994 and 2002) and two Copa América titles (1997 and 1999).
