Selecao defender Marcelo has told O Globo that the Brazil camp are eagerly anticipating the start of the World Cup this coming Thursday and that harmony within the squad is as high as it’s ever been.

The Real Madrid left back, who recently scored in their Champions league final win, said: “I always wanted to play for the national team, playing in a World Cup in my own country.”

“There’s a great expectation and desire that the first game starts soon. We are in a good way, all going to plan but there are still some adjustments to be made to stay 100%, as (head coach) Scolari wants.”

“I can not explain it, but there is no doubt that we have a united group. Everyone is very comfortable and there is a lot of sincerity and friendship between us.”
