Filipe Luís has admitted Atlético Madrid’s La Liga title win was hard-fought, but is ready for the Champions League final.

Diego Simeone’s side defied the odds to beat Barcelona and Real Madrid to top spot, with a draw against the former sealing a first league victory since the 1995-96 campaign.

With the title secured, Filipe is now looking ahead to Saturday’s Champions League final against city rivals Real, which closes out a draining campaign.

“We have won an extremely complicated League,” he told Gol TV, as reported by Football Espana. “It is a very long season and a very tough season.

“There are a lot of matches and a lot of training sessions. It’s the first title and now we can battle with Real Madrid for the Champions League.”

Filipe joined Atlético from Deportivo in July 2010. This season, he has made 32 appearances in La Liga and is on the reserve list for Brazil’s World Cup squad.
