The 31-year-old´s first club was Paulista and he moved to Gremio in 2008. Although he only has six caps for the Seleção, Victor is an experienced goalkeeper.
Why has he been selected?
Although he was sent off against Internacional last August for kicking the ball into opposition fans, Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari must feel that Victor has the the right temperament and the ability to be a positive influence in his World Cup squad.
How has he played this season?
Atlético have not had the best start to the Brasileiro season and the Libertadores Cup holders were also knocked out of that competition by Nacional at the beginning of May, with Victor out of position when the Colombians´winning goal was scored.
What will his role be in Brazil?
Victor will be playing third fiddle to first-choice number one Julio Cesar and his deputy Jefferson this summer. His place in the squad was in little doubt but Diego Cavalieri of Fluminense and Cruzeiro"s Fábio may have also dreamt of playing in this tournament.
