Coritiba midfielder Alex celebrated his 1000th game yesterday and described it as “magical”.

The former Fenerbache legend scored the winning goal in his landmark match against J.Malucelli.

Before the game he was celebrated by the crowd at the Couto Pereira Stadium and received a plaque to celebrate his achievement.

Once the final whistle blew on his sides 1-0 win, Alex showed his delight. He spoke with reporters and UOL Esporte published the 36-year-old’s thoughts.

He said: “I would define this game as magical. A single moment. And to do it here and with these supporter, it makes me very happy.

“Today I received many phone calls, it was exciting. Today after the game I ran around the lawn with my son, and I had a very good feeling. 

“I live in the present. I feel very happy at Coritiba. My time here at Coritiba, has been very satisfactory.”

Alex will be straight back into the action on Sunday playing his 1001th match and he is likely to continue replicating his impressive performances throughout the year.
