Chelsea’s Ramires helped his team put in a masterful display against Manchester City on Monday night, days after stating that he wants to win the Premier League.

Following Chelsea’s 1-0 win over City, the Brazilian midfielder has praised manager José Mourinho.

Lance quoted the 26-year-old who said his Portuguese manager got his tactics spot on.

“With all due respect to Manchester City, I think we gave an example of how to win a game,” said Ramires.

“Mourinho told us very well what was needed and the team, on the field, had the intelligence and the obedience to execute what he asked.”

Many had predicted that Chelsea would attempt to ‘park the bus’ against the free scoring Manchester club, but Mourinho had other ideas.

He implemented a pressing formation, more extreme than usual, and attacked City on the counter attack in addition to swamping them from open play.

The pressing resulted in the Blues creating several chances and the scoreline could have easily been more had they not missed those opportunities.

Ramires said they are now even more motivated than ever to win the Premier League, adding: “This was the kind of game for that brand (of football).

“(It) will certainly serve as an example for ourselves in other games of the season and other teams who visit the Etihad Stadium.

“We still have a lot ahead, but we leave even more motivated and confident that anything is possible, including the Premier League title.”
