Willian has joined his team mates and pundits alike in praising the tactical game plan executed by Chelsea against Manchester City yesterday evening.
The Blues earned an impressive 1-0 away win against one of the form teams in the Premier League on Monday night and the Brazilian was one of the star performers.
In a press release, the summer signing talked about the consequences if Chelsea had lost but admitted the winning celebrations were good.
Willian said: “If we had lost the game against City, we would have been very far from first place.
“So we had much to celebrate. The party was great after the game.”
The Brazilian midfielder has discussed how the match went and admitted they could have scored more than just once, with Willian in particular guilty of missing a key chance in the first half.
He said: “Our team was very good tactically, we scored efficiently.
“We could even have taken more chances on the counter attack and made one or two more goals. City also created opportunities.”
The host did have chances but there was no doubting Chelsea deserved the win and their commitment to pressing Man City’s players was key to the win.
Willian discussed the tactical game, adding: “I highlight this dedication of our team to run all the time and not allow space for City.
“In classics, sometimes you can not get much time with the ball but our team knew how to control it very well. That was crucial to victory,”
