The ex-Brazil midfielder Elano is tomorrow expected to sign for his third Brazilian club in as many years when a deal to join Flamengo is finalised.

The 32 year-old, who counts Manchester City and Galatasaray as two of his former teams, has come to an agreement to play the next period of his career for the Rio de Janeiro giants.

A mercurially talented playmaker, Elano has made 50 appearances for the Selecao; his last cap came in 2011 and it looks ever-likely that he won’t be in the mix for Luiz Felipe Scolari this year.

Elano’s move to Flamengo will give him the opportunity to play once again in the Copa Libertadores- the Rio club have qualified by virtue of winning the Brazilian national cup.
