Liverpool moved to the top of the English Premier League with a strong performance that saw them run out 3-1 winners against Cardiff City on Saturday. This is where they’ll stay for Christmas if Arsenal fail to win on Monday.

Following the victory at Anfield, 26-year-old Lucas Leiva was quick to point out that the strong first-half performance practically put the game beyond the reach of the Welsh side.

“We imposed our rhythm early on and managed to take a healthy advantage into the second half. As usual, we had great support from our fans and got the result we wanted. It was an important victory that keeps us among the leaders of the Premier League. We are proving every game that we have a very strong team,” said the Brazilian holding midfielder.

Luis Suárez once again stole the show with two goals in the game. Liverpool moved on to 36 points, one ahead of the Gunners who face Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Monday.
