The 30-year-old was on target in Bayern Munich’s 2-0 victory over Raja Casablanca in the FIFA Club World Cup final on Saturday.

The centre-back left the stadium in Marrakech with the tournament trophy under his arm. The player was clearly delighted, probably due to the fact he had scored the decisive first goal in the German team’s victory.

“It couldn’t be any other player with the trophy, could it? I even scored a goal with my right foot. That’s never happened in my life,” said Dante in an interview with SporTV. “Various people called me telling me that I would score,” he added.

Whilst satisfied with his performance, the defender chose to credit his teammates: “The most important thing was the dedication of our club, the players. There was talk of a lack of motivation beforehand but we’re professionals. We have humility and respect all of our opponents.”

It was the first time that the German outfit have won the Club World Cup.
