Reports in Italy are suggesting that Thiago Alcântara has today signed a deal to join Bayern Munich from Barcelona, reports Football Espana.

COPE reported this morning that the Spain Under-21 midfielder was beginning to lean towards a move to the German side, as opposed to remaining with the Catalans or signing for English club Manchester United, the team he had been expected to join earlier this summer.

The news was then followed up when former Barca Coach Pep Guardiola’s assertion to the media this afternoon that he was keen for his new team Bayern to pick up the 22-year-old if possible.

More than one outlet in Italy is now running the report that Thiago, who is of Brazilian heritage, has agreed terms with the German champions and the story is only lacking official confirmation.

Tuttomercatoweb.com and Sky Sport Italia are both reporting that the player will sign a deal worth €2.5m a season, with Bayern paying his reduced buyout clause of €18m.
