New Barcelona signing Neymar has ruled out  the possibility of playing a final home game for Santos, to bid farewell to the club’s fans.

Neymar played his final game for Santos last Sunday against Flamengo at the Mané Garrincha stadium in Brasília, far away from the fans.

The proposed new final game would be played on Saturday, when Santos face Grêmio at the Vila Belmiro stadium, for the Brazilian national league.

If Neymar were allowed to play the match, he could play two games on two days in a row, as Brazil’s national team will play a friendly against a very depleted England on Sunday.

Neymar told reporters on Monday: “I am leaving the city tonight (Monday), unfortunately I won’t be able to play at Vila Belmiro on Saturday.

His father Neymar da Silva Santos also ruled out the possibility, he said: “Neymar will not play against Grêmio, as he is now a Barcelona player.”
