Neymar could reportedly cost Barcelona a total of €72 million after fees are paid to the player, Santos and third-party owners.
Barcelona confirmed over the weekend that they had agreed a deal with Santos for the transfer of Neymar, who also had a contract offer from rivals Real Madrid.
The Catalan giants did not specify a transfer fee but it is believed to be in the region of €28m for the 21-year-old’s signature.
However, according to AS, Barca may have paid as much as €72m, with €32m going to the Peixe to then be split with the two investment funds that also part-owned the player.
Then a further €40m signing on fee is apparently due to the player and his father, who have already received €10m as part of a pre-contract agreement signed last summer.
Real Madrid’s late interest reportedly forced the Liga champions to spend more than planned, with Los Blancos apparently willing to pay Santos €30m, Neymar and his father €60m, and Barca themselves as much as €50m to cater for the pre-contract agreement.
Neymar will sign a five-year deal at Camp Nou on Monday, which is believed to be worth around €7m per season.
