Corinthians midfielder Paulinho has revealed the reason behind turning down the advances of Serie A giants Inter in the January transfer window.
The San Siro oufit moved for the €15m-rated midfielder after offloading compatriot Philippe Coutinho to Liverpool in the same window but were rejected by the player.
In an interview with SportTV, the 24-year-old revealed the motive behind staying in Brazil with Corinthians.
“Inter certainly made me an attractive offer but I said no to them because I was afraid. On the occasion, I was afraid to make a decision which I would have regretted later.”
Paulinho is still the subject of speculation over a move abroad with Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City reportedly interest in the Seleção star.
The midfielder is currently recovering from injury but is anticipated to make a return for the upcoming Brasilerão campaign.
