Manchester United beat Reading 1-0 on Saturday evening to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to an incredible 15 points.

With full-back Rafael da Silva rested, it was midfielder Anderson who represented Brazil on the day. However, the midfielder will likely be disappointed with his efforts.

United’s solitary goal came in the first-half as Wayne Rooney fired home a deflected effort from a Rio Ferdinand assist.

While supporters will no doubt have hoped for more from their side, United were pedestrian in their approach throughout and will be glad to have secured the narrow win.

While Anderson did little wrong in the centre of midfield, the midfielder laboured throughout the game and did little to prove wrong those who continue to doubt his dedication in training.

The midfielder’s Manchester United career has been continually disrupted by injury but would appear to be coming to an end as his performances fail to meet expectation.
