Sambafoot takes a look at last night’s Campeonato Mineiro action…

Brasileirão giants Cruzeiro maintained their lead at the top of the table with a resounding 3-1 victory over Tombense thanks to goals from Vinícius Aráujo, Everton Ribeiro and Elber.

Youngster Aráujo’s goal was his first goal for the club on what was also a first start for the 20-year-old in the absence of the injured Anselmo Ramon.

Tombense still maintain their position in third despite the loss but that could change with several teams around them having games in hand.

Caldense secured a much needed win over Araxá as they strolled to a 2-0 win that lifts them out of the relegation zone.

Goals from Ewerton Maradona and Nena proved to be enough to win the game and lift Caldense to sixth.

Nacional MG also climbed the rankings with a crushing 4-0 win over América TO thanks to two separate braces by Vanderlei Alves and Marcinho.

Nacional now jump up to ninth, overtaking their opponents in tenth.
