Manchester United midfielder Anderson has admitted that the club’s rotation policy can have negative effects on the team.

The Brazilian recently revealed that he has tried to leave the Old Trafford outfit many times after failing to secure regular first-team football under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Anderson has made just four starts in the Premier League this season, and managed just six minutes against Real Madrid in the Champions League last week, however, he is expected to face Reading in the FA Cup fifth round this evening.

The 24-year-old said: “It can be hard for a player if you don’t play for, say, two weeks because when you do get your chance you have to be ready to put in your best performance.

“If you haven’t played it can be difficult to do that. It’s good for all the players to be involved in big games and tonight’s [Monday] match is another important one.

“We know we have a good opportunity to win the Cup this season and we will all do our best to try and do that."

The last time United faced Reading, Brian McDermott’s men showed their resilience in a seven-goal thriller, which Anderson has highlighted as proof that the relegation-threatened side will not be defeated easily.

He added: “People say ‘Oh, United have an easy game," but there are no easy matches. Everyone has to do their job and play well if we are to get through.

“Every team that comes to Old Trafford plays like it’s their last game – that’s how important a match at Old Trafford against United is to other teams. That makes it hard for us, but we know we have the quality to beat any team."
