Lazio midfielder Hernanes has been released from hospital after sustaining a head injury during his side’s Coppa Italia win over Juventus on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old was stretchered off during the 2-1 semi-final win at the Stadio Olimpico following a very nasty clash of heads with Juve midfielder Luca Marrone.

The Lazio man came off much worse and seemed to be out cold mid-air. He regained consciousness but was bleeding heavily as he was taken from the field.

Hernanes spent the night in hospital as he suffered a cut to his head and underwent an MRI scan, but was discharged after the results showed no serious damage.

The Brazilian, who was recently called up by new Seleção coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, is unlikely to be used in his side’s league game against Genoa this weekend.

Lazio are currently third in the Serie A table, with 43 points after 22 games, ahead of their visit to 18th-placed Genoa on Sunday.

The Biancocelesti will meet either Inter Milan or Roma in the Coppa Italia final on May 26.
