Former Seleção boss Mano Menezes voted for Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo for yesterday evening’s Ballon D’Or which was won for the fourth time by Lionel Messi.
The Portguese forward came second in the voting despite strong support from both Menezes and current Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.
Seleção captain Thiago Silva voted for Barcelona’s Messi ahead of Ronaldo, whilst voting for Andres Iniesta for second and PSG teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic in third.
TV Globo presenter Cleber Machado also represented the Brazilian press in the voting, having voted for Messi, with Barcelona teammate Xavi in second and Ronaldo third.
Messi secured the Ballon D’Or with 41.6% of votes, with Ronaldo coming in second place with 23.7%.
Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta follows in third with 10.9% of votes.
