The vice-president of Major League Soccer believes that the league doesn’t need big names like Kaká to raise its profile.

After the recent departure of David Beckham, fans have been calling for a replacement from Europe and believe that Real Madrid’s Kaká is an ideal target.

Vice-president Todd Durbin told reporters: “We’re in a different place than where we were when Beckham came in six years ago, it will always be important to sign players with name recognition, but it’s not an absolute must-have.”

The vice-president of LA Galaxy, Chris Klein, played down the possibility of signing another player from abroad: “Going into next year we’re confident we have the two best designated players in the league, so we can be patient.”

The president of AEG, who own LA galaxy, Tim Leiweke recently stated that the Galaxy were considering the possibility of having Kaka at the Home Depot Center but Klein says they are in no rush to make the move.
