Zenit St. Petersburg have contacted Vasco da Gama over a possible January transfer of centre-back Dedé.

The 24-year-old defender is currently sidelined until next year having fractured his left fibula.

However, this hasn’t prevented the Russian side’s representatives from contacting the club over a possible transfer, but any talks were quickly disregarded by Vasco.

Ubiraci Cardoso, Dedé"s agent, said: “They [Zenit] contacted us. They wanted to know the availability of the player in Brazil.

“However, we do not see a future for the player in Russia at the moment.

“Dedé is happy at Vasco and he wants to play the World Cup in Brazil in 2014."

Zenit have recently invested heavily in their squad, including signing Brazil forward Hulk for €50 million, so the sale of Dedé could help solve Vasco’s current financial crisis.

The Seleção defender has already reportedly attracted attention from clubs such as AC Milan, Manchester City, Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan and Barcelona.
