Fluminense’s Edinho will play in his 100th game for the club in the possible title decider against Palmeiras, but admits he is conflicted at the prospect of sending his former club down.

Edinho could be a title winner after the game against Palmeiras on Sunday, the club that gave him his chance on his return from Lecce in Italy.

The midfielder told reporters: “It’s a special game, we have a chance to be champions. But it is a club that brought me back, who opened the door for me. I have many friends there.

“It’s a very complicated situation for me, but on the pitch I have to give my best for Fluminense.”

Edinho still hopes that Palmeiras can escape relegation: “What I hope is that Palmeiras can get out of this situation and get back to what they used to be.”

“It’s going to be another tough game, we have to prepare well and be mentally focused to win.”
