Grêmio have been boosted ahead of tonight’s vital clash with Fluminense with the news that Elano is fit and should start the game in Rio. Elano, who joined Grêmio earlier this year, has been in fine form for Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s team and has already contributed 5 goals and 6 assists.

The former Santos and Manchester City star had been struggling with a thigh injury but has now recovered and will look to continue the good form he has shown so far. He told Zero Hora: “I’ll be back 100%. Starting a game is not like entering the field in 2nd half. The player has to be fully fit.”

The player spoke of how he had been “seated right” by Luxemburgo within the team setup and, while the main goal is to secure Copa Libertadores qualification for next season, Elano believes they can still dream of the title.

“As of now, there are eight games left. Since arriving, the Libertadores has always been our goal but that has not yet been reached. But parallel to this fight, you can still dream about the title,”

Bolivian striker Marcelo Moreno is expected to take a place on the bench for the Tricolor, despite only arriving back in Brazil late last night after international duty.
