Chelsea are in pole position to secure the signing of Inter Milan full-back Maicon, according to Sky Italia on Saturday.

Maicon, 30, is thought to be looking for a transfer away from Italy this summer and had been linked with a return to Brazil, as well as a move to PSG.

The winner of the 2010 Samba Gold Trophy for the best Brazilian player in Europe, Maicon was a key member of the Inter side that won the Champions League the same year.

Having found Inter’s chances of success dwindling since the departure of Jose Mourinho, Maicon is hoping for one last hurrah in his glorious career.

Chelsea have been on the look out for a right-back for some time, with a bid for Manchester United’s Rafael having been rejected earlier this summer.
