Robinho, 28, is an idol at the Vila Belmiro and the president has come under some heavy pressure from the fans to repatriate the former-star.
The AC Milan forward is under-contract at AC Milan, but Santos are hopeful of negotiating a loan-deal for the Seleção star.
“We chatted for a long time on the phone as friends, both about family and personal matters,” Luis Alvaro told Lancenet.
“However, I admit to inquiring about the two-year contract he has remaining in Italy, and the possibility of a loan move back with us.
“Nevertheless, it still will be a very difficult deal to strike with Milan. Our objective is not to sow discord with the club we have an excellent relationship with.”
