Ramires has been one of the Stamford Bridge club’s top performers this campaign and hopes to continue a recent upturn in fortunes against an out-of-form Tottenham.

“Nobody wants to lose on their birthday,” Ramires told Globo Esporte. “It will be a special game for me and I hope that these high spirits help me to have a good performance.

“We know that Tottenham’s form is not the best, but we have to respect them. It is true that we have an excellent record against them, but the statistics mean nothing on the field and don’t help to score goals. It will be a new game and a new story.

“We must commit ourselves to avoid the risk of staying out of the next Champions League. This is our biggest concern at this stage of the Premier League.”

Ramires will celebrate his birthday on Saturday evening with some of his Spurs opponents and is hoping to take the bragging rights into the celebrations.

“I went to Sandro’s birthday with David Luiz the day after we qualified for the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League and we made sure he knew!

“Now I invited him and Gomes to come to my party and they may be looking to hide away.

“I don’t want to give them any leeway. The staff always tease me saying that I run for two people. This time I will run for three, it will not be hard to bear this time!”
