Kaká was called-up to Brazil’s last two international friendlies against Gabon and Egypt in November, but a calf injury forced him to pull out of the squad.

The former AC Milan play-maker now seems to of been able to put his injury problems behind him this year, and many expected him to finally make his return to the Brazilian national team after becoming a regular feature at the Bernabeu.

“I don’t have an explanation for all the players who didn’t make the squad,” Menezes said.

“I really respect Kaká but this is a matter of an opinion. Perhaps his recent performances didn’t convince me.”
