First up on Wednesday was Botafogo. After three straight draws, the Alvinegro managed to get back to winning ways – thrashing Olaria 5-0 at the Engenhão. Loco Abreu and Elkeson both bagged a brace each, before Maicosuel scored the fifth two minutes from time.

On Thursday, Flamengo managed to scrape a 1-0 win against Madureira at the Engenhão. Thiago Medeiros’ 52nd minute own goal gave the Rubro Negro the three points, but Joel Santana would have been disappointed with his teams stagnated performance.
