A Fluminense second string team were held to a 1-1 draw against Duque de Caxias on Saturday. The Tricolor das Laranjeiras had taken the lead after 73 minutes, thanks to 30-yard wonder strike from Thiago Carleto. However, just a minute later, Carlos Alberto’s power drive from a slightly closer range clinched a point for the Serie C side.

On Sunday, Vasco kept up their 100% record in the Carioca by beating Friburguense 2-0 in the Sao Januario. A brace from Diego Souza was enough for the Serie A giants to run out comfortable winners.

Later, Flamengo and Botafogo went head to head in then Engenhão to what was supposed to be the stand out fixture of the weekend. Unfortunately for both sets of fans, neither side could find the back of the net.
