Reports from British newspaper, the Telegraph, claim that the FA are excited by the idea of making the trip to the South American continent, having not done so since 1984 when John Barnes scored that memorable solo goal in England’s 2-0 triumph at the Maracana stadium.

The FA are hopful the trip will provide the three lions with good prepartion for the 2014 World Cup which will be held in Brazil.

The only stumberling block the FA could face in making this friendly happen is negotiating the tie with CBF president, Ricardo Teixeira, who recently critized the FA.

England are also planning on playing Uruguay in their 2013 tour, but the FA have yet to get in contact with the AUF (Uruguay’s Football Association).
