Carlos Eduardo, the former-Grêmio player who broke Rubin’s transfer record with his €20 million move from Hoffenheim in August, has been laid low since having knee-surgery in March.

The player had moved back to Brazil to recuperate with his former club, but is now back in Russia training alongside his new teammates.

The player was selected as part of Dunga’s initial 30-man World Cup squad, but missed the final cut and must now endeavour to pay back some of the Russian club’s substantial outlay to secure his services.
