Kaka was strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu prior to the closing of the summer transfer window after two injury-plagued seasons with Real.

However, he ultimately stayed put, and has started to show signs of recapturing his old form with a scintillating display in a 3-0 win over Ajax on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old was heavily involved in Real"s first goal, scored the second and set up the third, and has told FIFA.com that he never had any desire to move clubs.

“I am indebted to Real Madrid," he said. “It would have been very easy to have gone, but that is why I raised my game. I have a dream of winning with Madrid which I want to realise.

“After the game [against Ajax, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez] gave me a hug and congratulated me. He always supported me in the bad times. Many had said they wanted to sell, but he said he would not and kept his word.

“I owe a lot to the president. Three parties decided. I did not want to leave, [Jose] Mourinho did not want me to go and the club did not want to sell," he concluded.
