Of the 24 players who were called up by Mano Menezes for the Superderby away in Cordoba, some are established and better known as Ronaldinho and Neymar. But some in the squad are beginning to take their first steps in football and it could be crucial to Brazil’s future that they bed in well to the side.

All the recruits play today in one of 12 major clubs in Brazil. Interestingly, all the major clubs (São Paulo, Corinthians, Santos, Palmeiras, Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, Vasco, Gremio, Internacional, Cruzeiro and Atletico-MG) had at least one player drafted among the 24.

If we start seeing the former clubs of some of the squad, however, it is curious what we find and these clubs will also be celebrating the call-up of these players.

The side below, for example, comes from New Delhi, to downtown Rio de Janeiro. They recently moved up to the first division of the Carioca, but does not appear in any division of the Brasileirão.

The defender Dede, Vasco, is another who comes from a lower division team. This is the Rio Volta Redonda, a traditional side in the Steel Valley, but poorly represented in national football. For Voltaço, their greater glory came in the conquest of the Guanabara Cup in 2005.

CA.Hernam Aichinger, used to have current Internacional striker Leandro Damiao playing for them, but the club no longer exists. In the story, the club won two second division titles in 1991 and 2003.

Brazil faces Argentina Wednesday, 21:50, and you can follow all the coverage here in Sambafoot.
